YRES Promotes LEGO Learning and Summer Camps at St. Joseph the Worker CES

York Region Educational Services attended the St. Joseph the Worker CES Fun Fair with team members Fei Fei, Adeline, Olivia, and Elaine. Together, they welcomed students and families to the YRES booth, introduced children to LEGO Robotics, LEGO Science, and LEGO Art activities, and shared information about YRES summer camp opportunities.

Fei Fei, the team lead, shared that one of the biggest highlights was seeing students return to try multiple activities at the booth. Parents were also impressed by the variety of activities offered atYRES camps, and parents were thrilled to discover that YRES offers a convenient camp location right   at St. Joseph. The event also gave the team a chance to reconnect with families who had attended camp in previous years. Fei Fei shared that it was especially rewarding to meet parents whose children enjoyed camp last year and were interested in signing up again after learning about this year’s pricing and activities.

Adeline enjoyed helping at a LEGO Fun Fair for her first time. She appreciated the opportunity to introduce children to LEGO activities, encourage their interest, and make attendees happy by giving out prizes. Reflecting on the event, Adeline shared, “They seemed genuinely interested and it made me happy knowing we opened them up to new interests and possibilities”.

Olivia enjoyed interacting with students and asking them questions about science. She found it interesting to see each child’s different knowledge level and problem-solving abilities as they worked through the challenges. Olivia described LEGO Fun Fairs as “a great way to give back to your community” while engaging with students who have a wide range of skills and interests.

Elaine, the marketing lead, was in charge of LEGO Robotics and enjoyed hearing children share their own experiences with robots, including similar robots they had at home. She was surprised by how many students already had some robotics experience. Elaine shared that attending Fun Fairs gave her “a chance to interact with children and parents”, which made the experience more meaningful than working behind the scenes.

Overall, the St. Joseph the Worker CES Fun Fair gave YRES a valuable opportunity to connect with families, promote hands-on LEGO learning, and raise awareness about its summer camp programs. Through engaging activities, parent conversations, and strong student interest, the team created a fun and informative experience for the community.
