York Region Educational Services attended the LEGO Fun Fair at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Elementary School with team members Alan, Nathan, Angelina, and Alice. Together, the team helped run an engaging booth where children could explore LEGO-based STEAM activities, try hands-on challenges, and win fun prizes.
Alan, the event lead, shared that one of the biggest highlights was “giving out prizes to the kids.” The prize wheel added excitement to the booth and encouraged children and families to take part in the different activities. He described the day as “a very fun event where children got the chance to experience various LEGO STEAM activities to win free prizes.”
Throughout the fair, the YRES team worked together to keep the booth organized and interactive. Nathan shared that “working with my event team was a pleasure,” noting that having several people at the booth made it easier to host different activities while also speaking with parents about YRES programs. He added that “it was fun to watch kids be intrigued and challenged by the LEGO builds” set up at the booth.
For Angelina, the event was both exciting and meaningful. Some of her highlights included learning LEGO Spike Prime for the first time, watching children become curious about robotics, and seeing them take pride in solving the code. She also appreciated the chance to meet new people within the organization outside of her usual team. Angelina described the Fun Fair as “an incredibly exciting and rewarding experience,” adding that she loved being able to connect with others, create memorable experiences, and contribute to the local community.
Alice, the marketing lead, also highlighted the excitement of the day, especially seeing how happy children and families were after winning prizes from the wheel. Her perspective captured the cheerful atmosphere of the event and the positive energy surrounding the YRES booth.
Overall, the Fun Fair at Canadian Martyrs C.E.S. was a great opportunity for YRES to connect with families, promote hands-on STEAM learning, and introduce children to the creativity and problem-solving involved in LEGO activities. The event brought together teamwork, community engagement, and meaningful learning in a fun and memorable way.
