YRES Connects with Families at Brownridge P.S. Fun Fair

York Region Educational Services attended the Brownridge P.S. Fun Fair with team members Chloe, Kaitlyn, Uzair, and Jason. Together, they hosted interactive LEGO activities, spoke with families about YRES programs and summer camps, and created an engaging experience for children in the community.

Chloe, the team lead, celebrated  major success for the day, with the booth securing 19 summer camp sign-ups. She also noted how engaged children were with the LEGO activities, with many participants motivated by the prizes and excited to complete all activity stations. Some children even returned later to try the activities again, showing strong interest and enjoyment. Despite the hot weather and a few and a few technical issues , Chloe shared that the team’s quick problem-solving kept the booth running smoothly. Kaitlyn highlighted how popular LEGO Robotics was, especially when children came back to try the challenges again. She also enjoyed seeing children learn something new through the LEGO Science swinging hammer activity, which introduced the concept of energy. LEGO Art was especially fun for younger children, who enjoyed using different bricks to create their own builds. Kaitlyn shared that she had “a lot of fun at the fun fair” and gave special recognition to volunteer Seymour his high energy and helpfulness at the booth.

Uzair described the entire event as a highlight. He enjoyed working with the team and interacting with families in the area, sharing that the experience was “such a fun time working with YRES”.

Jason, the marketing lead, supported the event by taking photos, speaking with parents about YRES programs and summer camp, and helping the team set up the booth. He described the event as rewarding because it brought families and youth together through creativity and play. Jason also noted that the strong community engagement, positive feedback, and excited participants made the planning and promotion worthwhile.

Overall, the Brownridge P.S. Fun Fair was a successful opportunity for YRES to connect with families, promote hands-on LEGO learning, and share its summer camp programs with the community. Through teamwork, adaptability, and strong child engagement, the team created a fun and meaningful experience for everyone who visited the booth.
