York Region Educational Services attended the LEGO Fun Fair at Edward T. Crowle P.S. with team members Gabrielle, Fei Fei, Aanushan, Yukie, and Emily. Together, they hosted LEGO Robotics, LEGO Science, and LEGO Art activities while connecting with students, parents, and community partners.
Gabrielle, the team lead, shared that one of the highlights was seeing several children return to the booth throughout the evening because they enjoyed the activities so much. Having more staff than usual, along with a volunteer, helped the team promote YRES programs to parents while still running all three LEGO stations for children. Although the team faced a few technical and setup issues they adapted instantly, coming up with quick solutions to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for participants.Fei Fei highlighted the positive feedback from parents whose children were already enrolled in YRES programs and loved working with LEGO. She also enjoyed seeing the same group of children return to the table multiple times simply because they wanted to keep participating. Fei Fei shared that it was “great to see the same group of kids return to our table multiple times throughout the day simply because they enjoyed the activities”.
Aanushan supported the booth as the prize coordinator and saw strong parent engagement throughout the event. He also noticed many children participating in the different LEGO activities offered by YRES. On behalf of the team, he thanked Edward T. Crowle P.S. for welcoming YRES and allowing the organization to host its LEGO Fun Fair activities at the school.
Yukie enjoyed interacting with children and helping them learn how to use LEGO Robotics. She shared that many students were interested in the program and spent much of their time at the booth exploring the activities.
Emily, the marketing lead, described the event as fun and noted that many parents visited the YRES booth. She also appreciated being located beside the MPL booth, where she learned more about their 3D printer and saw potential for future partnership opportunities.
Overall, the Edward T. Crowle P.S. LEGO Fun Fair was a meaningful opportunity for YRES to connect with families, promote hands-on STEAM learning, and showcase its LEGO programs. Through teamwork, adaptability, and strong community interest, the team created an engaging and memorable experience for children and parents.
