York Region Educational Services attended the Beverley Acres P.S. Fun Fair with team members Devin, Matthew, Chloe, and Daphne. Together, they led interactive LEGO Art, Science, and Robotics activities while connecting with families and sharing information about YRES summer camp programs.

Devin, the team lead, shared that many children were interested in the LEGO Robotics activity. He described the Fun Fair as “an amazing time” and enjoyed leading the LEGO Art, Science, and Robotics stations. For Devin, it was especially meaningful to see children get creative, try new ideas, and enjoy hands-on learning.

Matthew highlighted the creativity students showed during the LEGO Science activity, especially when building complex designs. He was also able to explain scientific concepts to children who were unfamiliar with them, bridging the gap between fun and foundational learning. Matthew noted that the team worked well together to deliver a smooth event, and that the prize wheel was a strong incentive for participation. He shared that attendees were engaged with the activities and excited to receive prizes after completing LEGO challenges.

Chloe enjoyed seeing students and families interact with the LEGO stations throughout the event. She shared that there was strong engagement and described the experience as rewarding because families were able to explore STEM and creativity together.

Daphne, the marketing lead, highlighted the excitement of children winning prizes, the creativity shown through LEGO Art, and the strong interest from parents. She noted that the event was a good opportunity to promote YRES’ LEGO programs and speak with families about summer camp.

Overall, the Beverley Acres P.S. Fun Fair gave YRES a valuable opportunity to connect with families, promote hands-on STEAM learning, and introduce children to creativity through LEGO activities. Through strong teamwork, engaging stations, and positive parent interest, the team created a fun and meaningful experience for the community.
