York Region Educational Services attended the Moraine Hills Public School Fun Fair with team members Celia, Jason, Uzair, and Thea. Together, they hosted interactive LEGO stations, connected with students and families, and shared information about YRES programs with the community.
Celia, the team lead, shared that participants had fun and enjoyed all of the LEGO stations. Staff and parents were also impressed by the activities and showed strong interest in what YRES had to offer. Her leadership helped create an organized and engaging booth experience for families throughout the event.
Jason supported several parts of the event, including setting up the marketing area and activity booths, delivering the LEGO Science station, and helping near the prize station. He also stepped in to support LEGO Robotics while Celia spoke with an interested community partner. Although he had no prior experience with the robotics activity, Jason adapted quickly by observing the iPad instructions and guiding children through the challenge. He described the experience as incredibly successful and a strong learning opportunity.
Uzair enjoyed working with his co-workers and interacting with the community. He described the event as a “very fun experience overall” and shared that being part of YRES has helped him gain valuable skills, make meaningful memories, and feel a strong sense of purpose.
Thea, the marketing lead, highlighted the team’s success in making a potential daycare connection where YRES may be able to host a booth in the future. She also enjoyed seeing students and children engage with the LEGO activities. Thea described the Fun Fair as a “great way to market our programs and get to know the community”.
Overall, the Moraine Hills Public School Fun Fair was a successful opportunity for YRES to promote hands-on LEGO learning, connect with families, and build new community relationships. Through teamwork, adaptability, and engaging activities, the team created a fun and positive experience for children, parents, and staff.
