LEGO Robotics Workshops at Pleasantville Public School: Inspiring Innovation in Grades 4-6

In March 2025, York Region Educational Services (YRES) had the exciting opportunity to bring their hands-on LEGO Robotics workshops to Pleasantville Public School. Students in grades 4 to 6 dived into the world of robotics and coding in an engaging, fun, and educational environment.

The workshops were led by Brian Philip (Lead), Alisa, and Krishna, who guided students through building and programming their own robots using LEGO Education SPIKE kits and laptops. Working in teams, students learned the basics of coding with Scratch, a beginner-friendly programming platform, while gaining valuable skills in problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork. The sessions allowed students to experiment, collaborate, and customize their robots, bringing their ideas to life in exciting ways.

Alisa shared, “The enthusiasm from the students was incredible! It’s always a thrill to see them explore their creativity, tackle challenges, and feel the excitement of seeing their robots in action.”

Krishna added, “The students at Pleasantville truly embraced the experience. It was inspiring to watch them work together, share ideas, and problem-solve as they built their robots. This program helps them build not only technical skills but also collaboration and communication.”

Brian, the Lead Instructor, reflected:
“It’s been such a rewarding experience to host this program at Pleasantville Public School. The students here are curious, motivated, and eager to learn, which made it a joy to watch them grow throughout the workshops.”
