Volunteer Fair at York University [October 2023]

In collaboration with York University, we are looking for volunteers who can support the volunteer fair to promote YRES volunteering programs as well as educational activities. Volunteers will be responsible for answering questions from YU Students.

 

Halloween Haunt at the Heintzman House [October 2023]

In collaboration with Heintzman House (Markham), we hosted the Halloween Haunt on 31 Oct 2023 at the house between 6 – 9 pm. Our volunteers were responsible for handing out candies at the front and back door while gaining community hours.

Craft Show at the Heintzman House [November 2023]

In collaboration with Heintzman House (Markham), we hosted the Craft Show during 10-12 Nov 2023 at the house. Volunteers were responsible for setting up vendor tables, greeting and welcoming visitors while gaining community hours.

Volunteer Info Session at the Richmond Hill Public Library [November 2023]

In collaboration with RHPL, we are looking for volunteers who can support the volunteer info session to promote YRES volunteering programs as well as educational activities. Volunteers will be responsible for answering questions from library vistors.

 

Centennial College Career Fair [November 2023]

In collaboration with Centennial College, we participated in the Career Fair and met with over 800 candidates virtually and in-person and we promoted YRES volunteering programs as well as educational activities

 

Newmarket Fencing Tournament [November 2023]

Our volunteers supported the Newmarket Fencing Tournament either on 24th and 25th Nov 2023 at Newmarket High School.  Volunteers were responsible for setting up tables, greeting and welcoming visitors, and answering questions from visitors while gaining community hours.

 

Ignite Fair [November 2023]

Our volunteers supported the Ignite Fair during 25th Nov 2023 at the Lansing United Church in North York.  Volunteers were responsible for setting up tables, greeting and welcoming visitors, and answering questions from visitors while gaining community hours.

YRES Info Session at the Aurora Public Library [December 2023]

Our volunteers supported the YRES info session to promote YRES volunteering programs as well as educational activities during 2nd Dec 2023 at the Aurora Public Library.  Volunteers were responsible for answering questions from library visitors.

 

YRES Info Session at the Angus Glen Community Library [December 2023]

Our volunteers supported the YRES info session to promote YRES volunteering programs as well as educational activities. Volunteers were responsible for answering questions from library visitors.

 
 

Christmas Party for Special Need Students at the Gifted People Services [December 2023]

In collaboration with GPS, YRES and our volunteers supported the GPS Christmas party. Volunteers were helping decorate the party room, interacting with students, and handing out Christmas candies.

 

2023 Community Volunteer Appreciation Event [December 2023]

YRES Volunteer Awards recognized recipients at the annual ceremony. Recipients also took part in a session to share best practices in volunteering.

Winter Break & PA Day Camp at Markam Public Library [January 2024]

YRES is collaborating with U+ Education and Markham Public Library to offer Winter Break and PA Day Camp program at the library. Day Camp hours are 9 am – 4 pm and is filled with fun activities with camp students 5-12 year old.

Family Literacy Day at the Milliken Mills Library

YRES collaborated with U+ Education and Markham Public Library to attend the Family Literacy Day at the Milliken Mills Library. There were free text support, story time, arts & crafts, science experiments and giveaways! 

Keva Plank and Anti-Bully Program at Aaniin Community Center

Thanks to the York Region Community Violence Prevention Funding – YRES successfully launched the Keva Planks and Anti-Bully Program. Volunteers helped out with a variety of activities such as check-in/out, and assist in the classroom activities.

Math Elites + U March Break Camp at Markham Public Library

YRES collaborated with U+ Education and Markham Public Library to offer a March Break Camp program at the library. Day Camp hours were 9 am – 4 pm and was filled with fun activities with the campers.

March Break Camp at Franklin Street Public School

YRES is thrilled to have successfully launched the March Break Camp at Franklin Street. We had volunteers to help out with a variety of activities such as check-in/out, assist in the classroom activities.
