During these past 2 months, what were your major duties and how did they relate to your academic studies?
During the past two months at YRES as a marketing coordinator, my responsibilities have centered around promoting our summer camp. I made a compelling video trailer to show what our summer camp is offering in July to August. By posting it on many social media platforms like Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, etc. I hope it will attract a wide audience through effective visual storytelling. Additionally, I have created a yearbook for our weekend camps, documenting camp activities and memories. Considering my pursuits in Marketing, these tasks align well with my future academic path, allowing me to apply these course concepts in more realistic settings. I was also able to further refine my skills in content creation, creating engagement, and managing projects with much-needed hands-on experience.
In May you were asked to envision how YRES would contribute to your growth. How has your time here contributed to your personal and professional development? Were there any unexpected challenges or benefits?
Most importantly, my experience at YRES has given me the tools and settings to personally and professionally develop myself and prepare for future marketing opportunities. Though I was able to enhance my skills and apply course concepts, there was still struggle when it came to unexpected challenges such as tight deadlines and the need to adapt to changes. Regardless, these challenges also taught me how to be more flexible and resilient in my work. Additionally, the environment of YRES was supportive and allowed me to learn from professionals and connect with peers. Overall, my time at YRES surpassed my expectations and proved to be a great way to hone my practical skills and gain a deeper understanding of marketing.
Describe 2-3 projects from your co-op that you're particularly proud of, and how they have helped you grow academically and/or professionally?
The two projects that I am particularly proud of are making the trailer video and proposing great TikTok ideas. While creating the video trailer to promote our summer camp, the work that came with it helped me strengthen my skills in visual storytelling and video production. In order to maximize engagement and capture new potential campers, I had to ensure the short video could tell parents what they needed to know while also showcasing the quality of our services as quickly as possible. Being under these restrictions and the pressure helped me grow academically and professionally and pick apart what makes an advertisement effective. Proposing Tik Tok ideas helped me in a similar light, challenging me to brainstorm concepts that could capture the attention of people scrolling through their feeds. This also meant being entertaining enough within the first few seconds and getting our message across effectively. Recalling current trends and seeing how they could fit our brand was essential in this process.
Please nominate someone who deserves the employee of the month award and explain why briefly. You can nominate more than one person.
Megan! She is a very hard working employee. From what I’ve witnessed, she puts a great amount of effort in her work.
