YRES’ LEGO Robotics Collaboration with Roselawn Public School

In March 2025, York Region Educational Services (YRES) brought their exciting LEGO Robotics workshops to Roselawn Public School. Students in grades 4 to 6 had the chance to explore robotics, creativity, and teamwork, all within the familiar environment of their own school.

Led by Brian, Chloe, B’Jounai, and Krishna, the workshops provided students with the opportunity to build and program their own robots using LEGO Education SPIKE kits and laptops. Working in teams, students learned how to control their robots through Scratch, a beginner-friendly programming platform. Beyond just coding, the workshops encouraged collaboration, problem-solving, and customization as students brought their robotic creations to life.

Chloe shared, “It’s always amazing to see how quickly the students pick up new skills and bring their ideas to life. Their excitement and creativity are truly inspiring.”

B’Jounai added, “The students at Roselawn have been so eager to learn and explore. It’s been incredible to watch them work together and tackle challenges in a fun and supportive environment.”

Krishna reflected, “I’ve loved seeing the students grow in confidence as they learn about coding and robotics. It’s been a joy to help them discover new possibilities through technology.”

Brian, the Lead Instructor, concluded:
“These workshops are a fantastic way to introduce students to robotics and coding while fostering teamwork and creativity. It’s been a privilege to work with such an enthusiastic group of students at Roselawn.”
