During these past 2 months, what were your major duties and how did they relate to your academic studies?

One of my major duties was the collaboration project with CICS, in which I teach around 13 students aged 8 – 13 about scratch programming. I familiarize myself with the concepts and search for contents and games that will interest the student. This project helps me learn more about different aspects of coding and programming which is related to my academic study where I learned two different programming languages, Python and Racket. This program also helps me practice my self learning skills as I need to fully understand the concepts and the purpose of the block in order to explain that to my students.

In May you were asked to envision how YRES would contribute to your growth. How has your time here contributed to your personal and professional development? Were there any unexpected challenges or benefits?

Working on diverse projects such as teaching, marketing, and grant writing has enriched my understanding of various fields. Additionally, I’ve learned to use valuable tools like Benchmark Email and Monday.com, which are essential for task management and efficient communication. These experiences have not only enhanced my technical skills but also improved my ability to collaborate and execute projects successfully. I’ve become more adaptable and effective at problem-solving, allowing me to tackle different challenges confidently and efficiently. These hands-on experiences have truly broadened my skill set and prepared me for future development.

Describe 2-3 projects from your co-op that you're particularly proud of, and how they have helped you grow academically and/or professionally?

I’m really proud of the changeX project, where I designed two workshops to help kids I’m really proud of the changeX project, where I created two workshops to help kids learn about protecting the environment. Through this, I discovered new ways to care for our planet and learned how to plan a project from start to finish, including budgeting and setting milestones. I also love working on the Scratch collaboration program with CICS. It’s been great to teach and learn from an experienced teacher on how to manage a classroom. Both projects have been super rewarding and have helped me grow a lot, both personally and professionally.

Please nominate someone who deserves the employee of the month award and explain why briefly. You can nominate more than one person.

I want to nominate Macy for scheduling the info sessions very well. She is very organized and will follow up with how each session has been going.

Share photos of fond memories you made while at work.
