YRES had a great time at York University’s Volunteer Fair on October 30, 2024, engaging with potential volunteers and networking with other tabling non-profit organizations. 

Our Operations Director Carey Takeda primarily manned the booth, where we laid out boxes of notebooks and novels for YorkU students to peruse and take for free. We saw some students and event facilitators in costumes and many organizations were also giving out candies and chocolates at their table. 

We took the time to visit other organizations’ booths as well. We came across some familiar organizations that YRES has previously partnered with (e.g., Volunteer Toronto and Youth Assisting Youth) and spent the time catching up on what their organizations have been working on and planning for the new year. With organizations that we have previously not interacted with before, we networked with the representatives, learning about their organization’s mission and services for the community. 

We hope to see some familiar YorkU students faces at our upcoming volunteering opportunities and future partnerships with other non-profit organizations!
